Revolution - TV Show - NBC
"Memorial Day" - Aired 14MAY2014

This Sci-Fi show is about what happens after a few smart people create some "nano-beings", and they take it into their own "hands" to kill electrical power in the whole world.  The story line has been really slow to develop, and they aren't killing off the bad guys as fast as we would like to see them do.  Maybe this has lead to a decline in the ratings, so much so, that after the 5/21/14 show (which is the end of the "season"), NBC has decided to kill the series.  Shame.

Anyways, the only form of transportation left running are wind powered boats and old railroad steam engines.  The scenes from this weeks show, and the week before, are in "Willoughby TX", but are shot on the Texas State Railroad, which runs between Rusk and Palestine TX.  The engine number is real, they just painted over the tender where it says Texas State Railroad.  Below, we see the main character Miles, played by Billy Burke, on the train as they leave the Patriots railroad yard in Texas.  Seems like they had cameras placed everywhere!!!

And below, are two pictures from the TSR's website of the engine, although the bell and headlight are not in the same place as it was in the show.

NCIS: Los Angeles - TV Show - CBS
"The Livelong Day" - Aired 5NOV2013

The guys n girls of NCIS uncover a plot by a local boy who wanted to "drive" trains, but washed out.  The kid wanted to prove to people that trains should not be going thru a certain populated area with HAZMAT loads, and was going to derail a trainload of something toxic to prove his point.... except..... his roomate, another stellar thinker, wanted to blow things up and was going to blow the train up in another area where it was going to do more damage, cause this moron has terrorist tendencies.  Pretty good effects and story, if you look past the improbability of the engine not having trains brakes, or the kid NOT being able to slow the engine down using the throttle, in fact, the train speeds up at one point.  The kid also tried to uncouple the load from the engine, but couldn't.  UNSTOPPABLE  in a one hour TV environment!!!

Body of Proof - TV Show - ABC

This show takes place in Philadelphia, and stars the former Desperate Housewife Dana Delany as a medical examiner.  The producers and/or director must have a thing for trains, as many quick shots of them appear in the segways.  The large shot below is close to the University of Pennsylvania as the SEPTA commuter line heads south from the 30th St station.

Missing - TV Show - ABC
"A Measure of a Man" - Aired 26APR2012

Ashley Judd plays a woman who has had her son kidnapped while at school in Italy.  Her character Becca retired from the CIA 10 years earlier )after her husband was killed in a bomb explosion in his car), which she thinks may have had something to do with it until she discovers her husband (also in the CIA) was still alive.

Becca's son Michael escaped with a Russian girl Oksana, and hitch a ride on a freight train.  They get off when one of the bad guys is tracking them down.

Missing - TV Show - ABC
"Answers" - Aired 3MAY2012

We're in Vienna for this episode, and action takes place on the Metro system.  Nice shots of the system, but they don't match that of the pictures from the Metro's website.

Nothing to do with the rest of the story, but nice aerials shots nonetheless

Missing - TV Show - ABC
"Promise" - Aired 10MAY2012

The CIA has been chasing this freight train around that they thought had a small nuclear bomb on it, but by the time they found it in Istanbul, it was gone.
We "miss" the show, it was not renewed for a 2nd season..... :-(

At the end of the show they showed a little bit of Portland, and a few Light Rail shots appeared in the trailer.

NCIS: Los Angeles - TV Show - CBS
"Sans Voir - Part 2" - aired 13MAY2012

In part 2 of this show, the NCIS team is chasing who they thought were the "bad guys" into a dock area serviced by train.  Judging from the shots, and that some of them had cameras perched on the freight cars, I'd say they tied up their normal operations for at least a day.  So let's see, you can make out the number on the NAHX centerflow, and it was almost possible to read the signage on the side of the passenger car.  They also went to a lot of trouble to hang a camera from the underside of one car to get an "extreme close-up" of a wheel as the train is moving.
